Welcome to the Advanced Dance Theater
Group
of Beverly
Hills High School
The COMPANY 2003
The Beverly Hills
High School Advanced Dance Theatre Group, "Company 2003",
one of the top high school dance companies in the nation, will
be performing their annual concert on January 15, 16, 17 and
18 at 7:30 in the high school's K.L. Peters Auditorium, 241 S.
Moreno Drive B.H. This dance company has produced graduates who
have gone on to professional roles in television, film, music
videos, and professional dance companies such as Bella Lewitsky,
Naomi Goldberg, and ISO.
The Company 2003 performance includes dance
numbers which span modern, hip-hop, flamenco, and musical theatre
styles. The director of this year's concert, Christy Bolingbroke,
had worked for three years as assistant artistic director with
long-time Company director Janet
Roston. Christy has contributed a dance which explores personal
identity, popular icons, and a celebration of individuality.
Student members of the Company 2003 are very
involved in choreography. Senior Ryan Weiss has collaborated once
again with recent Beverly High graduate and composer Kevin Blumenfeld,
and he has choreographed the concert's opening number. He also
will perform a solo he created with Denise Leitner. Other student
choreographers include seniors Alessandra Rizzotti, Nicol Ruber,
Dana Shprung, and Gaba Vallone, and juniors Melissa Joseph, Robby
Nadler, Gregory Scott, Nathaniel Smith, and Vienna Willems.
Professional choreographers who have contributed
a diverse array of pieces include Ben Wright, known for his role
as the Swan Prince in Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, celebrated flamenco
dancer Liliana DeLeon-Torsiello, and local hip-hop choreographer
Bradford Robinson-Mathews.
Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults, $8.00
for students. Tickets can be purchased from the high school student
store, directly from Company members, or at the Auditorium Box
Office on the night of the performance. The box office opens at
6:30 p m, and seating is unreserved. Tickets purchased in advance
can be used for any of the performance nights.

GUEST CHOREOGRAPHERS
Artistic Director, Christy Bolingbroke graduated from UCLA
with a B.A. in Dance in 1999. She was a member of the UCLA Dance
Team for two years and completed an intensive program at the Alvin
Ailey American Dance Academy in New York City. She has performed
in works by local choreographers David Rousseve, Ron Brown,
Dorcas Roman-Colins, Julie Carson, Brian Frette, Janet Roston,
and Jamie Nichols. In addition to choreography and performance,
Christy has produced many shows including Tiny Band's Jesus Christ
Superstar, David Rousseve's The Ten Year Chat, and Dan Froot's
Shlammer. She is finishing a three-year term on the Board of Directors
for the Dance Resource Center of Greater Los Angeles (2000-present)
serving as President (2001-2002) and treasurer (2002-present).
Christy was Assistant Artistic Director for The Company '99, '00,
and '02. She thanks Janet Roston for the opportunity as well
as this year's Company, production staff, Company Parents, Jeff
Hubbard, Rex Comer, Annie Terry, Rachael Robbins, Dana Berk, Ben
Bushman, Anne Wayne, and Ragen Carlile for all of their support,
patience, and assistance.
Assistant Artistic Director, Ragen Carlile holds a B.A. in
Dance and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University
of North Carolina Greensboro. She began her dance training at
Enloe High School for the Performing Arts and was a member of
the Rainbow Dance Ensemble in Raleigh, North Carolina. While
in North Carolina, Ragen studied at the American Dance Festival
and later became a member of the administrative staff. She began
her professional performing career with the Jan Van Dyke Dance
Group, a modern dance company based out of Greensboro. She also
performed various works with Rick McCullough, John Gamble, Marie
Hoffman, and Tiffany Rhynard. Since relocating to Los Angeles
in 2000, Ragen has performed with (ie)dance, Fast Feet, and Collage
Dance
Theatre. She currently serves as the Administrative Director of
the Dance Resource Center of Greater Los Angeles. Ragen's first
year with the Beverly Hills High School Advanced Dance Theater
Group has been inspiring. Congratulations, Company '03!
Guest Choreographer, Ben Wright graduated from the Ballet
Rambert School London in 1990 and immediately began dancing professionally
with Mathew Bourne's then young company Adventures in Motion Pictures.
During his career he has danced with London Contemporary Dance
Theatre, Richard Alston Dance Company, Pretty Ugly Dance Company
and Ricochet Dance Company. He has worked with amongst others
Mark Morris, Christopher Bruce, Amanda Miller, Angelin Prejolcaj
and Stephen Petronio. In 1995, Ben created the role of the Prince
in Mathew Bourne's Swan Lake. He has performed the role throughout
the UK, in two West End Seasons in London, at the Neil Simon Theatre
New York, and at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. After a
three year break from the role Ben is presently engaged in a world
tour of Swan Lake to Europe, Japan, Korea and China. A Small Tide
is Ben's second commission for Beverly Hills High School. He created
Behovely for Company '01.
Guest Choreographer, Liliana de Leon-Torsiello is a master of
dance forms such as Flamenco, Mexican Folklorico, Latin Jazz and
Latin popular rhythms. She is the Assistant Director and choreographer
of "Cana's Wine" and choreographer and director of "de
LiRitmo" Flamenco Dance Company with which she performs as
a dance soloist and singer. In November 2002, Liliana traveled
to New York City with Lynn Dally's Jazz Tap Ensemble to perform
at the Joyce Theater. Her most recent production is the co-creation
of Tu, El y Yo, where "Cana's Wine" performs a powerful
evening mix of contemporary spiritual movement and sound, good
conversation through great live music and dance that show innovative
expressions that celebrate love, partnership, faith and understanding.
This is Liliana's first commission for The Company.

a student at West Los Angeles College. Brad has created hip-hop
choreography for M.A.D. Degrees Productions' instructional dance
